Export Cooperation Request Letter 

Dear Representative of the Food Safety Hygiene Control Authority,

According to the 「Standards and Specifications for Foods」, solar salt imported into Korea for food purposes shall be classified and certified as edible salt in the producing country and produced in sanitary conditions in accordance with the requirements of edible salt.

*Related regulation: 「Standards and Specifications for Foods」 Chapter 5. Section 12-6 Edible Salts 2) (1)

However, as there are recent cases of bulk industrial solar salts being imported as edible salts, we have informed operators who import edible solar salts in bulk into Korea that the following confirmation document is required for each import. Therefore, we ask for cooperation of the producing country (exporting country) for the issuance of said document if a request to export edible solar salt to Korea is made. 

<Content of document required to be submitted upon import declaration>

❍ Applicable country: All countries approved for import of solar salt

❍ Applicable product: Edible solar salt imported in bulk industrial form*

   *Excluding products packaged in their final form for distribution and retail sale  to end consumers

❍ Content: Certification by a government or other public agency (Chamber of Commerce etc.) stating that the product has been classified and certified as edible solar salt

❍ Effective date: May 1, 2020 (based on the shipment date)
